What is a Fully Automatic AED?

A Fully Automatic AED is designed to analyze the heart rhythm of a person in cardiac arrest and deliver a shock if necessary without the need for any manual intervention. Once the AED pads are attached to the patient's chest, the device will automatically assess the heart rhythm and administer a shock if it detects a shockable rhythm.

What is a Semi-Automatic AED?

On the other hand, a Semi-Automatic AED also analyzes the heart rhythm and prompts the user to deliver a shock if needed. The key difference is that with a Semi-Automatic AED, the user must manually press a button to deliver the shock after the device indicates that one is necessary.

Key Differences

One of the main differences between Fully Automatic and Semi-Automatic AEDs is the level of user intervention required. With a Fully Automatic AED, the device takes full control and administers the shock on its own, while a Semi-Automatic AED requires the user to press a button to deliver the shock.
